Message (send)

To send a message via the Participants list

  • Go to Participants  in the left-hand navigation menu.
  • From the list of students, select the student(s) you want to message. 
  • Go to With selected users (at the bottom of the page).
  • Select Send a message from the drop-down.
  • Write your message in the pop up box, and click Send.

Moodle messaging


Moodle messaging is a chat function that enables students and staff to send messages within Moodle.

To start messaging in Moodle

  • Go to the chat icon in the top right of your screen (next to your profile pic or icon). 
  • Search for the person you want to message.
  • Optional: turn off email notifications for the conversation.

Moving a Section

The drop down sections within a page are called topics. 


You can move them using the three dots to the right. Then choose from the move options in the menu:
