• Collaboration with Word

One of the huge benefits of working 'in the cloud' (working online), is that multiple people can access the same document at the same time. This means that you can be writing a document while a colleague is also editing it at the same time.

    • Activity 1

      Co-authoring Documents

      Allow 30 minutes

In this activity you will be challenged with sharing a document with someone else and working on it together. Get ready to 'phone a friend!'

      Task 1: Real-time Co-authoring

Work through the resources on this website, then have a go at the challenge below.

      Challenge:

      • Share the document with another person or with yourself using a different email account
      • Update the document together at the same time

      Task 2: Sharing

Work through the resources on this website, then have a go at the challenge below.

      Challenge:

Find someone who you can share a document with and experiment with collaboration and chat. This will only work if both people are part of the same 'organisation' (i.e. have an email address with the same organisation) and are online at the same time.

    • Activity 2

      Tracking Changes and Using Comments

      Allow 60 minutes

Another useful feature of Word regarding collaboration is the ability to 'track changes' and/or make comments on the document.

Work through the resources on this website, then have a go at the challenge on page 6 of the website.

      Link: Track Changes

      Challenge:

Find someone who you can collaborate with and experiment with tracking changes, e.g. create a brief document, share it with them and get them to make some changes while 'Track changes' is turned on. Get them to return the document to you and be sure to view the different 'Markup' options. What happens when you make some additional changes?
