NMIT Online has recently upgraded from Moodle 1.9 to 2.3. Most students should notice only minor changes between Moodle 1.9 and 2.3, but there are some differences. Some of the key differences are outlined in this page.
Remember, to access help or information about any activity, look for and click the blue icon:

Blocks
The first thing you may notice when you log into Moodle is the new blocks preferences. Blocks on your My Courses page and also in your course may be docked to the left side of your browser. Once docked, clicking on the tab temporarily pops out the block. This gives you more space in the middle of your course.
NOTE: you may dock or collapse none, some, or all of your blocks as this is merely a preference for viewing blocks. The Course overview in My Courses can also be docked. If you don’t see your courses when you log in, you might want to check that Course overview block wasn’t accidentally docked to the side of your browser.

Adding Files
There are some changes that make adding files, images etc. to your posts and courses much easier:
Moodle 1
The old way: Click Browse to attach a file
Choose the file to upload:
There are now two ways to add files:
Click the Add... button or simply drag and drop files into the dashed area.
If you clicked on
Add..., a window called the File picker will pop up (shown below).
The column on the left allows you to choose files from a number of hosts:
All course files: Allows you to pick files from all course files including student submissions
Recent files: Allows you to pick files from courses in which you’ve recently submitted files
Upload a file: Allows you to upload files from your computer.
Private files: Allows you to pick files from your private files directory.
Dropbox: If you have a personal Dropbox account, you may copy files from your Dropbox account.
Box.net: Similar to Dropbox, if you have a Box account, you may copy files into Moodle.
Flickr: If you have a personal Flickr account, you may copy images from Flickr.
Once the Attachment is selected, you may rename it for your records, set the author’s name, and choose the licensing.
Click the Select this File or Upload this file button at the bottom of the page.
